Tips to Promote Your Recycling Efforts

Posted Aug 15, 2014 by Christyn Zehnder

If you participate in TRC’s program, either as a mercury thermostat collection location or as a person who recycles mercury thermostats, you’re doing a good deed and helping the environment. (And if you don’t participate yet, find out how you can here). However, are you making others aware of your recycling efforts? Your good need shouldn’t go unnoticed, especially if awareness can help motivate others to change their recycling behaviors as well. Below I offer a few tips on how to effectively (and cheaply) promote that you are a TRC collection point and a mercury thermostat recycler.

Local Advertisements

Have a newspaper or media outlet where local businesses advertise? Our Promotional Toolkit offers pre-made and customizable advertisements you can download and use. Don’t quite see what you need? Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to work with you.

Another great option is to contact your local PHCCA and/or ACCA chapter to see if you can be included in their newsletter!

Marketing Collateral

Marketing collateral about TRC’s program is a great way to make your customers aware of the importance of recycling mercury thermostats, especially in states where it’s the law. Our promotional toolkit also offers downloads for posters, bill stuffers, brochures, invoice templates, etc. and you can contact us to receive hard copies of select items.

Social Media

Social media is a great tool for free advertising. If your company has social media pages make sure to schedule some posts that inform followers that you’re a mercury thermostat collection site! And if you aren’t following us already, check us out on Facebook or Twitter for updates.
