TRC Teams with HARDI for New Mercury Thermostat Recycling Awards
June 29, 2011—Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC) and Heating, Airconditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) have teamed up to offer awards recognizing HARDI’s members who have taken the lead in mercury thermostat recycling. “These awards offer TRC not only a means to increase collections, but to also show our appreciation for those distributors who demonstrate a strong commitment to both the program and the environment,” says Mark Tibbetts, Executive Director of TRC.
Awards will be presented at HARDI’s Annual Conference in Maui, Hawaii. For interested distributors, there are three award categories:
- Mercury Thermostat Recycling Heavyweight Award
Total Pounds of Mercury Recovered (all branches) - Mercury Thermostat Recycling Pound-for-Pound Award
Highest Average Pounds of Mercury Recovered (per branch) - Mercury Thermostat Recycling Promoter Award
Promotion and Awareness Efforts
In order to participate, HARDI members must become a collection point for recycling mercury thermostats through TRC if they have not done so already. Next, creatively promote the program and nominate your organization by submitting documentation of your efforts. The deadline for submission is Oct. 4, 2011. Go to HARDI’s website for more information.
