New York HVAC Contractors Now Required to Recycle Mercury Thermostats

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed into law a bill that requires any person or contractor who replaces a mercury-containing thermostat to deliver it to an appropriate collection site to be recycled.

New California Regulation Requires a Contractors State Licensing Board ID

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has placed additional requirements on C-20 HVAC and C-21 Demolition contractors and business collecting waste mercury thermostats through manufacturer sponsored program(s).   Beginning July 1, 2013, these contractors or their employees, upon delivering a waste mercury thermostat to a collection location, must provide the location with their contractors State Licensing Board Identification Number (CSLB).

C.C. Dickson Company Joins Thermostat Recycling Corporation’s Program

C.C. Dickson Company has partnered with Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC) to enhance its recycling efforts and provide its customers additional means to recycle mercury thermostats. C.C. Dickson Company is the newest HVAC Wholesale Distributor to join TRC’s program and currently operates in nine states throughout the Southeast, with a total of 116 branch locations.
