Just How Many Is 1.4 Million Thermostats?Posted May 15, 2012
Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC) has now recovered over 1.4 million thermostats containing over 6.6 tons of mercury.
To put that into perspective, lined end-to-end that is enough thermostats to: cover the length of more than 400 football fields, stack as high as 300 Washington Monuments, or follow the course of the Boston marathon.
“1.4 million is a lot of thermostats, and it’s not something we achieved alone. TRC owes much of its success to the HVAC contractors and the support of the HVAC wholesale distributors that collect waste thermostats on TRC’s behalf,” said Mark Tibbetts, Executive Director of TRC.
