TRC Announces 2014 Big Man On Planet Competition WinnersPosted Dec 8, 2014
Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC) announced that Johnstone Supply, Crescent Parts & Equipment and Corken Steel Products have been named the 2014 Big Man On Planet (BMOP) winners. The annual competition among Heating Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) members took place May 1st – October 31st and yielded 55,912 mercury thermostats recycled among all participants.
Twenty one HARDI member distributors with more than 1,000 locations nationwide signed up to compete in BMOP this year, compared to 600 locations in 2013. Johnstone Supply won the 2013 BMOP award, and Johnson Supply won in 2012. The 2014 competition created three tiers based on company size and awarded a trophy to the distributor within each tier who recycled the most mercury thermostats. Additionally, an incentive was awarded to the branch location within each tier that recycled the most during the competition.
Tier three: Distributors with 41+ locations
- Johnstone Supply won tier three and their Rochester, MN branch received the $1,000 incentive for being the location that recycled the most in the overall competition.
Tier two: Distributors with 11 – 40 locations
- Crescent Parts & Equipment won tier two and their St. Louis, MO branch received the $500 incentive for being the location that recycled the most within their tier.
Tier one: Distributors with 1 – 10 locations
- Corken Steel Products won tier one and their Florence, KY branch received the $500 incentive for being the location that recycled the most within their tier.
