TRC Saves Money on Mercury Clean Up

Posted Oct 8, 2018

Bangor, ME  Various sources, including Maine's WABI TV 5 report that the cost to clean up the Penobscot River estuary could cost up to $333 million dollars.  The waterway was polluted by mercury from a now defunct plant.  The previous estimate was $130 million for mercury removal.  See the details here.

Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC) has been on the front lines of mercury recycling and reclamation for twenty years.  We provide for an affordable and effective way of preventing mercury from contaminating the environment.  Established by the HVAC industry as a voluntary take-back initiative, TRC has collected over 2.4 million mercury-containing thermostats.  Our goal is to ensure that mercury from thermostats does not make it into the waste stream polluting our waterways and the overall environment.
