Welcome Summer!

Posted Jun 21, 2018

So, what does June 21st mean?  If you are a kid, it means you can play outside later into the night.  For parents, it is harder to get their kids into bed!  Regardless, longer daylight hours make people feel warm inside and out.

Here are a few fun facts about the Summer Solstice.

  • The earth's tilted axis is the driving reason for the solstice.
  • The summer solstice marks the beginning of winter in the southern hemisphere.
  • If you stand in the Tropic of Cancer at noon on the 21st of June, you'll have basically no shadow!

Regardless of where you are, enjoy the day!
