Where to Recycle

Our location results are populated by active locations who have returned a recycling bin to us within the past 14 months.

If you are unable to recycle due to the current health emergency, please do not dispose of your mercury thermostats in the trash. Store and recycle them when normal operations resume.

We maintain more than 3,400 collection locations nationwide that will recycle mercury thermostats at no cost to you. Find your nearest location by entering your zip code below. Once your results populate, click on a location to get business hours, phone numbers, and directions. Then take your mercury thermostat and drop it off at your chosen location and you’re done!

  • Please note that our program does not currently operate in Alaska or Hawaii. For those looking to recycle mercury thermostats in Canada, please visit their Thermostat Recovery Program website.
  • To recycle non-thermostat mercury items, TRC recommends contacting Veolia Environmental Services to assist with additional mercury waste recycling services, such as thermometers and fluorescent lamps. Click here to learn more.
